January Favourites

One month into 2018 and I’m already wondering where the time is going? I swear as you get older the years just flash past. So I wanted to have a quick round up of a few things I’ve been loving this month. As always it’s going to be a bit random, but that’s just how I like it.

FILM/TV ; The Greatest Showman

This has to be at the very top of my list! I went to see The Greatest Showman not once, but twice at the cinema this month because I absolutely frigging loved it. I’ve even been listening to the soundtracks in the car on my drive to work. What’s not to love – Singing, dancing, romance (ZAC EFRON !!!) and an ultimate ‘feel good’ story line. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters. I’m going to be the first in line when this comes out on DVD. I very much recommend you see it as soon as possible, you won’t regret it.

LIFESTYLE ; 2018 Life Planner, by Amelia Lane

I was given this for Christmas from my family, I felt like a child opening the toy of their dreams. I feel very strongly about stationary and organisation so this was just the best thing since sliced bread for me. Firstly it’s beautiful, just look at it! Secondly, it has absolutely everything you could need and thirdly, it’s BEAUTIFUL. I’ve been using the meal and exercise section to keep a food diary and also been using the notes sections in the back to write down any restaurants I want visit, films I want to watch, books I want to read and places I’d like to go in 2018. It’s the easiest planner to follow and I can see myself using this for the rest of the year.

BEAUTY ; Charlotte Tilbury, Magic Cream & Oribe Dry Texturising Spray

I’d had the CT magic cream on my wish list for the last two years but had never got round to trying it. Again, for Christmas I was lucky enough to receive the CT Icons gift set which had the magic cream included. I’ve since been using it morning and night and my skin has truly never felt better. I was a bit concerned it was all a hype and the name ‘magic cream’ fooled people into thinking it would work miracles; but it is so worth it’s price tag, I’ll definitely be re-purchasing! The second beauty product that has earned it’s rightful place in my ‘Ride or Die’ category is the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray; I’d received a sample in the January Birchbox (Click here to read my blog post) and I honestly don’t think I can live without it now. It makes my curls stay all day and look super defined.

FOOD ; Mango

I’m having a major mango moment, its all I want to eat. I reckon I’ve consumed 10 peoples yearly quota of mango in the month of January alone. To be honest, I’ve been loving fruit in general – satsumas/bananas/grapes and mango have been my go-to snacks after telling myself I needed to ditch my extra winter padding I’ve been swapping the sugary snacks I’d usually reach for, for fruit (yes I know fruit has sugar in, but at least it’s natural). Don’t get me wrong, some 3pm sugar cravings were tough but I broke the back of them and allowed myself some chocolate here and there – I just needed a better balance.

FASHION ; Faux Fur Coats

During the winter your outfit tends to get covered up by coats and jackets, because most days it’s flipping arctic. I’m so envious of people who don’t feel the cold and can face the weather in a thin knit alone. So, because that’s just not doable for me – I love to invest in my coats and find that I buy/own rather a lot. My absolute favourite coat this season has been from MissSelfridge. It was exactly what I was looking for… cream, faux fur and mid length. It wasn’t until I put it on that I noticed it was in fact reversible! Yep, TWO COATS IN ONE?! The other side is a shearling material, this is perfect for when you want to be snuggled up as the fur is then the lining – UBER WARM! Plus it’s nice to have options.
