You may or may not have heard of ‘Beauty Pie‘ it’s a company that launched at the beginning of this year and it’s concept is something I’ve never heard of before… bare with me and I’ll try to explain in the simplest way.
It’s an online shop which caries unbranded luxury makeup and skincare products, which members can buy at production-line prices. There is a variation of membership options available – £10 per month for 3 months minimum or £120 for the year which includes a £90 gift bundle. Each month you can buy a basket of products up to the retail value of £100 but you’ll be saving up to 85%. Beauty Pie source their products from the leading suppliers in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, USA, UK and Korea.
After hearing a handful of good reviews, I decided to give it a try myself. I chose the £10 p/m membership, the first month you sign up you’re given an additional £50 to spend, meaning you have can buy up to £150 worth of products at their normal retail value.
Since they launched their variety of products has grown rapidly, there is a foundation for every skin type, concealer for every need, powders, blushers, bronzers, highlighters, brow products and lip products of every form.
My basket included – The Oil Free Micro-Mineral Serum Foundation in the shade Light 300, the Incrediblur Concealer in the shade Fair 100, Velvetizer Translucent Mattifying Powder, Superbrow Precision Pencil in the shade perfect brown, Uber Curl Drama Mascara in ultra-black, Futurelipstick – Matte in the shade Cowboy Nude and The Fantasticolour Sculpting Lipstick in the shade Vegas Nude.
This should have cost me £150 – instead it cost me £19.70, plus the £10 membership and some shipping it totalled at £38.11 – ABSOLUTE BARGAIN IF YOU ASK ME!
But how good are these products? Are they really to the standard of leading luxury brands?
I have tried and tested the foundation – the formula isn’t something I normally choose, it’s very thin but still the coverage is amazing. It has a glowy finish which is perfect for the summer months. I have oily skin so a setting powder is always an essential for me, and it HAS to be a good one. The velvetizer powder is perfect, it just blurs any imperfections and sets my makeup all day.
I’ve also tried the brow pencil – for a long time I’ve used powder to fill in my brows so using a waxy pencil was quite new for me, I have to say I loved the finish, the colour was perfect and it’s so handy to have a spooley on the end. The matte lipstick is the PERFECT colour for me – a mauvey/pinky nude. It’s not drying at all and stays in place for hours. The one thing I’m still judging is the Drama Curl Mascara, it’s a little too clumpy for me. It is super lengthening and holds a curl but I prefer my lashes to be more separated; I tend to prefer any mascara after I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks, so the jury’s still out!
I’m yet to try the concealer and the sculting lipstick but I’ve got high hopes… I’ll let you know my thoughts!
Lots of Love
